Punjab’s education ecosystem is one of the largest in the world. Reforming education at such scale needs a multifaceted agenda which covers all aspects of the education landscape in the province. For this very purpose, Punjab’s first ever School Education Policy titled “The New Deal: 2018-23” was launched in February 2019.
The New Deal outlines the transformations for improving school education in the province, with emphasis on three main components of Learning, Access & Retention, and Governance. The ambition for next five years is to provide quality education experience to both our students and the teachers inside of schools. The aim is to educate students to standards that demonstrate knowledge and understanding across a set of agreed Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) while ensuring their retention at all school levels. The New Deal also aims at enhancing efficiency and transparency in the system to ensure good practices which will enable better learning outcomes and accessibility.
